The young French talent explains the fracture to his fibula that occurred two days after the end of the race

Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa-B&B Hotels) wanted to clarify the situation surrounding the home accident that caused him to fracture his fibula, just two days after his brilliant seventh-place finish at the Tour de France. The rider responded with humor to speculation on social media: "I feel sorry for those who thought I was an alcoholic."

After being one of the Tour's leading lights and a new idol among French fans, the Arkéa-B&B Hotels team announced that their rider had suffered a fracture to the distal end of his fibula. The news sparked hundreds of reactions, with some speculating it was a result of the post-Tour celebrations.

Vauquelin explained the incident on his Instagram profile: "To be clear, it happened while I was walking down the stairs with my suitcase, not during a party." The 24-year-old then provided further details about his condition: "It's a serious injury, my first fracture. It's the first time I've used crutches. It's annoying, but let's just say it's happening at the least bad time, right after the Tour de France."

The expected recovery period is at least two to three weeks, but the French rider remains optimistic about the possibility of participating in the World Championships in Rwanda at the end of September, which is one of his main goals of the season. "The World Championships have always been a goal. I will recover as quickly as possible to be at the start," said Vauquelin.
