Dorian Godon wins the first stage of the Volta a Catalunya, starting and finishing in SantFeliu de Guixols, 172.7 km.

The first breakaway of the Catalan race was made up of Veistroffer, Burnet, Stites, H.Aznar and U.Aznar.
The peloton keeps the frontrunners in check with Ineos and NSN pulling.

UAE and Bahrain try to force the pace in the final with many ups and downs, but only Ciccone breaks away from the men in the standings.

In the final sprint, Pidcock took off first after the NSN had pushed ahead, Evenepoel responded strongly, but Godon took his wheel and managed to overtake him only in the final metres and thus won in a photo finish.
Gualdi and Raccagni Noviero in the top ten.

The leader's jersey obviously goes to Godon, tomorrow another stage that wins at the endurance sprinters.
