Andreas Leknessund (Uno-X Mobility) wins the seventh stage of the Vuelta España from Vall d'Alba to Aramón Valdelinares (149.8 km).
Today, for the first time in this Vuelta, the peloton allows a breakaway, with Van Aert and Leknessund taking advantage in the early stages. Three more men join the leading pair, with Johannessen , Dunbar , and Lutsenko joining the frontrunners. Behind the five men, a group of 22 riders, about a minute behind, attempts to react.
On the final climb, Leknessund was the first to set off and gained an advantage over his fellow breakaway riders.
The Norwegian gradually increases his lead, while the UAE pulls without forcing the group.
Leknessund takes a solo win and completes his hat-trick of Grand Tours after his successes at the Giro and Tour. A huge Uno X celebration with Johannessen taking 2nd place, leaving Van Aert behind in the finale.
In the red jersey group, Decathlon pushed the pace with 5km to go, with Gall attempting to attack his rivals for second place overall. Pogacar widened his lead, while the Austrian gained a few seconds on all his opponents. Carapaz fell behind significantly.
