Brandon McNulty won the individual time trial that opened the Vuelta a España 2024, from Lisbon to Oeiras of 12 km. He is the first leader of the general classification.

The Uae Emirates rider finished with a time of 12'35" at an average speed of 57.197 km/h. Second, surprisingly, was Matias Vacek of Lidl Trek at 2 seconds, third Wout Van Aert (Visma Lease a Bike) at 3 seconds. Fifth was Edoardo Affini while Primoz Roglic finished in eighth place with Joao Almeida tenth.
