Louis Meintjes (Intermarchè Wanty Gobert) won the ninth stage of the Vuelta, the 171.4 km Villaviciosa-Les Praeres Nava with the fearsome 3.8 km uphill finish with double-digit gradients.

The South African runner, on the run from the morning together with other athletes, preceded the finish line   two Italians: Samuele Battistella (Astana), about a minute, and Edoardo Zambanini (Bahrain Victorious).

On the final ramp an incredible number of Remco Evenepoel, fourth then at the finish, who detaches all the direct opponents for the final victory of the race. Enric Mas (Movistar), Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers) and Juan Ayuso (Uae Emirates) are defended, while Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) has suffered a loss from the Belgian just under a minute.
