Slovenian dominates the Alto de Moncalvillo
Primoz Roglic won the 19th stage of the Vuelta a España, from Logrono to Alto de Moncalvillo, 173.5 km. The Slovenian is the new leader of the general classification.
The five-man breakaway resumed, with Simone Petilli and Isaac Del Toro in it, and it was the Red Bull Bora that unleashed the brawl right after the start of the last climb. Roglic created a gap and reached the finish line alone, while behind him David Gaudu, second on the stage, and Mattias Skjelmose, third, both over 40 seconds behind, defended themselves well. Enric Mas and Richard Carapaz dropped in the final stages.
Ben O'Connor loses the lead after a long lead: the Australian is still second in the general classification. Tomorrow is the penultimate stage with many mountain grand prix and an uphill finish at Picon Blanco.
