But the best among the big names in the general classification
Pablo Castrillo wins the fifteenth stage of the Vuelta, from Infiesto to Valgrande-Pajares Cuitu Negru (143km).
In the early stages of the race, a breakaway of 23 riders formed, including Sivakov , 13th overall at 3'30" from the podium. For this reason, the group did not leave much room for attackers, thanks above all to the work of Landa's Soudal Quick-Step.
On the Alto de Colladiella, Vine's action selects the breakaway a lot and allows him to distance the group of the best: at the top, in fact, there are seven riders left in command with an advantage of about 3 minutes.
At -10 km Sivakov, Vlasov and Castrillo remain in the lead, always with a 3' margin. Four km later, after the great work of Cattaneo, Landa attacks without however managing to make the difference.
Castrillo extends his lead on the hardest part of the climb, while in the leading group, Roglic manages to break away from his rivals thanks to the help of Lipowitz, but Mas overtakes the Slovenian.
For the stage victory a great Castrillo resists Vlasov and scores the encore in this Vuelta. Vlasov and Sivakov place on the podium of the day.
Mas and Roglic crossed the finish line side by side, with a few seconds of margin over Skjelmose and Carapaz; O'Connor lost another thirty seconds, but defended his red jersey again today.
