Another pearl from Pogacar at the Vuelta España

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) wins the sixth stage of the Vuelta España, from Alcossebre to Castellò (177.4 km).

After several attacks, 16 men gained the lead, managing to open up a lead of nearly three minutes. Van Aert won the intermediate sprint and recovered as he approached the second-category climb of Alto del Desierto de las Palmas .

The breakaway is already losing ground on this not-so-impossible mountain pass, while the UAE team is consistently pulling away from the peloton. The world champion's team gradually increases the pace and halves the gap at the foot of Puerto del Bartolo , the decisive climb of the day with a dirt section.

With 3.5 km to go, Pogacar changed pace and quickly broke away from his rivals. As soon as the dirt road began, he went after Debruyne , the last escapee to give up. The red jersey took off alone; behind the world champion, Mas was the most brilliant rider, trying to gain an advantage over Onley, Gall, Roglic, and Carapaz.

Incredibly, just before the summit Mas catches Pogacar , while behind him the Gall-Roglic-Debruyne trio forms 35" behind.

In the first part of the very technical descent, Mas shows some uncertainty, Pogacar then tries to pull away but ends up off the road.

The two go together and gain ground on the final flat stretch.

In the final sprint Pogacar clearly wins over Mas ; third place for Debruyne ahead of Carapaz .
