"A great atmosphere; the only downside was the accident in yesterday's stage."
Andrea Cecchini, president of Libertas Ceresetto, the race organizer, took stock of the 2025 Giro del Friuli in front of our microphones
He first wanted to address yesterday's incident, with the accident off the race course and the subsequent cancellation of the stage: "The race went well despite yesterday's negative incident, with the road accident that canceled the third stage. Unfortunately, an irresponsible maneuver by a driver caused a relay motorcycle to crash, resulting in the two men on the motorcycle being hospitalized."
"This ruined the party a bit, " he continued, "but there was still great effort and a spectacular fourth stage with the double climb of Monte Ragogna. The three teams of the top three finishers (Bora-Astana-Ukyo) demonstrate how much our race is growing."
"Would the Pani climb have been a good test for future events? Our goal was certainly to test it for races bigger than ours. It's truly disappointing that we weren't able to ride it due to an incident that went beyond the safety and organization of the race. Unfortunately, there are some reckless and undisciplined people on the roads."
He then concluded by thanking Fantacycling for making the Giro del Friuli known and expressed his hope that the collaboration could continue in the future.
