Elisa Balsamo takes her second victory in as many stages of this Giro d'Italia Women, this time "on the road".
The Lidl-Trek athlete, in fact, had triumphed by default yesterday, after Wiebes was excluded from the race due to the weight of his bike, which did not comply with the regulations.
Today, Balsamo won a bunch sprint and won the 156km Roncade-Caorle race. Gillespie and Consonni followed, both in excellent form in these first two sprints, while Kool was slightly behind, finishing just off the podium. Guarischi and Zambelli also finished in the top ten.
Balsamo strengthens his lead in the overall standings. Tomorrow brings another opportunity for fast wheels with the finish in Buja.
