"I wanted a Spanish team to have more freedom in the race"
Pablo Castrillo , one of the revelations of last season, has signed a three-year contract with the Spanish team Movistar .
His was one of the longest negotiations of the cycling market, after an exhausting courtship by Ineos Grenadiers. In a recent interview, the former Equipo Kern Pharma rider explained the reasons for his refusal to the British team, explaining that he was looking for a team from his country that would give him more freedom in the race and where he would be one of the most important elements of the formation.
In fact, many riders who have moved from Ineos Grenadiers have found themselves playing domestique roles too often, without being able to fully express their qualities.
Castrillo now joins the World Tour with Movistar, where he will undoubtedly be one of the men of reference for the toughest races; we will see if he can confirm the excellent climbing performances shown in 2024, in particular with the double stage victory at the recent Vuelta.
