Longo Borghini fourth, Vollering takes the wrong path
A surprise at the women's Strade Bianche: Elise Chabbey has won the 2026 edition of the race with the finish line in Siena's Piazza del Campo.
The Swiss athlete from Fdj Suez finished ahead of Kasia Niewiadoma and her teammate Franziska Koch. Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini finished fourth.
Demi Vollering and Pauline Ferrand Prevot were out of contention, first suffering mechanical problems and then a course error that completely eliminated them from the race. Two other FDJ athletes took advantage of this, consistently leading throughout the race. Lotte Kopecky and Anna Van der Breggen also fared poorly, both falling far from the finish line.
Also in the top 10 was Monica Trinca Colonel, who finished in eighth place, behind Puck Pieterse and Marianne Vos.
