The Lidl-Trek rider has not recovered from his illness since the World Championships

Giulio Ciccone has ended his season early: after missing the Giro dell'Emilia, he will also miss the Giro di Lombardia, scheduled for Saturday, October 11th, from Como to Bergamo.

The Abruzzese had achieved a prestigious sixth place at the World Championships in Kigali and would have been among the contenders for a podium finish at the Falling Leaves Classic. Unfortunately, Ciccone fell ill during the World Championships and was unable to prepare for the Italian Classics at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old's season can therefore be considered over, with 2025 having been positive overall, considering his victory at San Sebastian , the first stage of the Tour of the Alps, and second place in Liège. In the stage races, however, the feeling remains that he could have achieved some partial victories between the Giro and the Vuelta, but bad luck struck Giulio, especially in the Giro d'Italia, with a crash in Nova Gorica when his form seemed exceptional.
