Dati wins gold at the Mediterranean Games

Tommaso Dati won the gold medal in the men's road cycling race at the Mediterranean Games!

The twenty-four-year-old Tuscan from Camaiore, considered one of the favorites going into the race, won with a stunning performance over the 133.3-kilometer distance. The race, held on the urban circuit of the Itria Valley, was particularly intense on the uphill sections, where the Italian national team made the difference, controlling the competition.

The race ended with a very tight three-way sprint on the finishing straight of Corso Vittorio Emanuele. In the final meters, Tommaso Dati , launched splendidly by Iacomoni , unleashed an irresistible progression, beating the Portuguese Antunes .

Dati's victory completed a perfect day for Italian road cycling at the 2026 Mediterranean Games. Just hours before the men's race, in fact, the women's road race had seen an extraordinary Italian hat-trick with Rachele Barbieri taking gold ahead of Martina Fidanza and Barbara Guarischi .
