The young Mexican from UAE Team Emirates concludes an extraordinary season with yet another success at the Giro del Veneto
Isaac del Toro put the final seal on a simply incredible 2025 season by taking his sixteenth victory at the Giro del Veneto .
The Mexican talent, born in 2003, who has always tried to downplay the 'super talent' label, has already proven on the field that he is the natural heir to Tadej Pogačar at UAE Team Emirates-XRG . His triumphant ride began at the Giro d'Italia, where he donned the pink jersey after an attack on the gravel stage to Siena, holding it until the twentieth stage when he ceded it to Simon Yates in a tactical battle with Richard Carapaz .
After the Giro, del Toro literally dominated the second half of the season, winning 14 races, including seven Italian classics with seemingly no effort. He also achieved a fifth-place finish in the time trial at the World Championships in Rwanda, a seventh-place finish in the road race, and a fifth-place finish at the Giro d'Italia, working for Pogačar.
"It's been an incredible season!" Del Toro commented. "I've learned so much and grown a lot. We had a plan with the team at the beginning of the year, but after some initial problems, it seemed difficult to implement. Instead, everything has been incredible, and I've improved enormously."
The Mexican will conclude his season with the Critérium de La Nucía in Spain and the Andorra Cycling Masters, where he will challenge Pogačar, Roglič, and Vingegaard in a four-man race that includes an 8km time trial up the Coll de la Gallina and a 32km criterium.
With Juan Ayuso's move to Lidl-Trek and Pogačar focused on the Tour de France, Del Toro could return to the 2026 Giro d'Italia to aim for the overall victory. But he remains humble: "I don't like to think I'm a super talent. I just think I work hard enough to stay at the top. Mental strength is 80% of the job: if you don't want something, you'll never get it."
