Jonas Vingegaard won the eighth and final stage of the Dauphiné, from Saint-Alban-Leysse to the 138.8 km Plateau de Salaison with Col de la Colombiere and the dreaded uphill finish at 1495 meters. Primoz Roglic wins the French race.

It is precisely the latest ascent, thanks to the great pace of Steven Kruijswijk , to do damage: David Gaudu, Matteo Jorgenson, Damiano Caruso, Tao Geoghegan Hart, Jack Haig and Ben O'Connor jump, one at a time. The morning escape is totally resumed and at -5 from the finish the usual suspects remain: Roglic and Vingegaard. The Dane seems to have more but does not detach his teammate.

The Jumbo Visma scores a brace on arrival with Vingegaard winning the fraction over the Slovenian and a brilliant O'Connor at 15 seconds completing the final podium.
