The time trial world champion aims to defend his title and add new trophies to his list of trophies.

World time trial champion Remco Evenepoel landed in Rwanda on Thursday to begin his quest to add more titles to his list of victories, starting with Sunday's time trial at the UCI World Championships .

Evenepoel , who has won the time trial world title for the past two seasons, is the favorite to repeat this weekend. The Belgian will also participate in the road race in the capital Kigali the following Sunday.

From Brussels Airport, Evenepoel told Sporza that he's ready for the challenge of winning "as many jerseys as possible," after recently completing a post-Tour of Britain training camp in Calpe, Spain. "I was able to do everything I needed to do perfectly. It was ten relaxing days, but with good training, and I have a great feeling. I'm ready to go," said Evenepoel, who will travel with Belgian coach Serge Pauwels and his national teammates Florian Vermeersch and Ilan Van Wilder.

Without Filippo Ganna at the start of Sunday's time trial, which will take place on a rolling 40.6km course, Tadej Pogačar emerges as Evenepoel's main challenger for the rainbow jersey. The Belgian has also pointed to Australian Jay Vine, Pogačar's teammate and recent runner-up in the Vuelta time trial, as a possible outsider.

"When Pogačar sets his mind to something, it's a sign he feels ready. I'm looking forward to this challenge. I hope it won't be a close battle, but he's definitely an exciting opponent," Evenepoel commented.
