Mark Cavendish won the third stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Kaposvár to Balatonfüred of 201 km, the first opportunity for the fast wheels of the group.

The fraction was characterized by the second escape in three days of Mattia Bais and Filippo Tagliani of Drone Hopper, this time together with Samuele Rivi of Eolo Kometa. The fugitives, however, were taken back by the platoon who never gave them too much advantage.

The sprint was fought with Cavendish quick to take advantage of the teamwork and take home the final success. Well Arnaud Demare , second, and Fernando Gaviria , third. Out of the game Caleb Ewan.

For Cav it is the 53rd success in the great laps, the 16th in the Giro d'Italia.

In the general classification Mathieu Van der Poel remains in the pink jersey.
