Alessandro Covi (UAE Emirates) won the twentieth and penultimate stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Belluno to the Marmolada (Passo Fedaia) of 168 km which also included the climbs of the San Pellegrino Pass and the Pordoi Pass, Cima Coppi of the pink race.

Those who expected a tough battle between the big names in the Dolomite stage had to wait for -3.5 km from the finish when only Richard Carapaz and Jai Hindley remain while Mikel Landa and Vincenzo Nibali come off immediately.

Hindley's assault takes place 1.8 km from the finish: Carapaz comes off and suffers a heavy delay of 1'28 "from the Australian, obviously a new pink jersey.

In front, however, the breakaway of the day goes through with Covi who manages to conquer the success after a solitary undertaking that started on the Pordoi. Giulio Ciccone closes third.
