On the day in which Joao Almeida leaves the Giro d'Italia after having tested positive at Covid (he was fourth this morning in the general classification and leader of the youth classification), the pink race arrived in Treviso, the finish line of the 18th stage of 156 km starting from Borgo Valsugana.

The last fraction dedicated to the remaining sprinters, however, was resolved with yet another escape that went to port. Four runners in advance for the whole stage to compete for the final success: Magnus Cort (Ef Education EasyPost), Edoardo Affini (Jumbo Visma), Davide Gabburo (Bardiani Csf Faizanè) and Dries De Bondt (Alpecin Fenix) with the group that fails to make up for the disadvantage.

To rejoice is the Belgian teammate of Van der Poel who beats, in order, Affini, Cort and Gabburo. Richard Carapaz is still in the pink jersey. A puncture in the final for Jai Hindley, who arrived slightly late (but without detachment because the fact happened within the last 3 km).
