Another great performance from Pogacar who finished in second place
Filippo Ganna wins the individual time trial in the fourteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia. The Team Ineos Grenadiers rider covered the 31.2 km, from Castiglione delle Stiviere to Desenzano del Garda, in 35'02" at an average speed of 53.4 km/h.
The Piedmontese starts well before the men in the rankings and sets an amazing time : he climbs to the top of the rankings, putting behind him numerous specialists such as Foss, Bjerg, Affini, Milesi, Hoole and Walscheid.
Nobody worries Ganna until Pogacar starts: the Slovenian is 4" ahead at the first half-time, while at the second he is 10" behind. Pogacar concludes the test with an excellent second place at 29".
Among the men in the standings, Arensman 3rd is doing well, gaining four positions overall, Tiberi 6th and O'Connor 7th. G.Thomas 4th overtakes D.Martinez 13th in second place with a 15" lead.
Baudin surprisingly enters the top ten, while Rubio, Fortunato, Bardet, Hirt and Pozzovivo drop.
