Georg Steinhauser won the 17th stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Selva di Val Gardena to the 159km Passo Brocon.

Numerous escape attempts also on this day but the action starts only after Passo Sella, Passo Rolle and Passo Gobbera, just over 30 km from the finish line. The young German from Ef Education EasyPost overtakes Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier, takes the lead on the first pass over Passo Brocon and then manages to maintain a decent lead until the finish.

In the pink jersey group, Ben O'Connor lost while the leader of the general classification, Tadej Pogacar, once again made the difference in the last kilometers, separating all his rivals. The Slovenian, however, had to 'settle' for second place in the stage.
