Liane Lippert wins the sixth stage of the Giro d'Italia Women from San Benedetto del Tronto to Chieti .

Challenging stage with four athletes testing the attack: Ruth Edwards , Ane Santesteban , Erica Magnaldi and Liane Lippert. The attackers have a 2'20" advantage over the pink jersey group when the athletes begin the last climb and Lidl Trek, the team of the Elis Longo Borghini pink jersey, increases the pace.  

With four kilometers to go, three remain in front; thanks to Erica Magnaldi's forcing, Ane Santesteban loses ground and the pink jersey group moves 1'05” behind.  

With 2.8 kilometers to go, Lotte Kopecky takes off, with Elisa Longo Borghini closing in on the world champion and counterattacking.  

At the end of the climb, however, the two best of this Giro Women slow down and are caught up by the rest of the group of the best.  

The three attackers battled it out in the sprint and it was Liane Lippert who had the decisive break ahead of Edwards and a generous Magnaldi.

Pink jersey Longo Borghini placed fourth, won the peloton sprint and maintained a three-second lead over Lotte Kopecky.
