Bleddyn surprises with 2nd place; Plapp does poorly, only 8th.

Jay Vine wins the Australian National Time Trial Championships, the traditional opening race of the cycling season.

The UAE Team Emirates rider won the 39km course in Perth in 46'52", at an average speed of over 50km/h.

Surprisingly, Bleddyn , born in 2002 and a rider for Team Brennan (Continental), finished 31" behind him, while O'Brien of Team Jayco AlUla took the third step of the podium, 40" behind.

This is Vine's second national triumph in the specialty, following his success in 2023 and last year's second-place finish behind Plapp . Plapp was the day's biggest disappointment: the defending champion finished 8th, a staggering 2'44" behind.
