Kasper Asgreen signs with NSN Cycling

NSN Cycling has announced its third transfer for the 2027 season: Danish Classics specialist Kasper Asgreen is leaving EF Education-EasyPost to sign a two-year contract with the team.

The 31-year-old Asgreen arrives after two seasons with the American team, preceded by six phenomenal years at Soudal-QuickStep, where he established himself as one of the best cobblestone riders in the peloton. His impressive list of achievements includes the 2021 Tour of Flanders , breakaway victories at both the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia, as well as victories at the E3 Saxo Classic and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne.

Asgreen thus joins Colombian Santiago Buitrago and young Belgian Jens Verbrugghe on NSN's roster of arrivals. General Manager Kjell Carlström called him "exactly the versatile rider we wanted to add to our roster," emphasizing that Asgreen is destined to "make a strong impact both as a leader and as a teammate."

The Finnish manager also highlighted the role the Dane can play in developing the team's young riders: "He's a fighter, whether on the cobbles, in the breakaway, pulling at the front of the pack, or against the clock. His aggressive and opportunistic approach has allowed him to win in a wide range of races, and we're excited to see what he can achieve in the coming years."

As for his personal goals, Asgreen confirmed that he will continue to focus on the Spring Classics, but will also aim for the Vuelta a España with the ambition of completing the 'hat trick' by winning a stage in each of the three Grand Tours.

"I still have several goals I'd like to achieve. The Classics are obviously very special to me. They're the races where I had my big breakthrough and which I particularly love," said Asgreen.

"I think the team already has a good roster for the classics and there's a lot of potential for success. I hope to be able to come along and help guide the guys, capitalizing on the experience I've gained from winning some of the biggest races.

I already have a stage win at the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia, so the next step would be to try to complete the hat trick, and I'd love to do it with NSN. Besides the classics and Grand Tours, another big goal I have is the time trial at the World Championships.

In 2021, I finished two seconds off the podium at the World Championships, so I still have some unfinished business there, and I'd really like to get that medal someday."
