Viviani finishes second but is demoted, then Vernon

Jasper Philipsen won the eighth stage of the Vuelta a España, 163.5 km from Monzón Templario to Zaragoza.

A stage without climbs that ends, as expected, in a sprint after an unsuccessful breakaway by three riders (Samitier, Bou and Faura).

At the finish line, Philipsen took his second victory at the 2025 Vuelta, beating Elia Viviani and Ethan Vernon. Viviani and Bryan Coquard, however, were demoted for dishonest conduct.

Torstein Træen retains his lead in the overall standings, where nothing changes in the top twenty positions.
