The Welshman officially retired from the Tour of Britain yesterday.

Geraint Thomas has officially said goodbye to cycling: yesterday he rode his final race, finishing the Tour of Britain 'on home soil'.

The Ineos Grenadiers rider completed a season without any highlights , taking part in several stage races, including the Tour de France, and contributing with his example and experience to the growth of the younger riders within his team.

Among the Welshman's most notable victories are undoubtedly his success at the 2018 Grand Boucle , his various triumphs in short stage races (Paris-Nice 2016, Dauphiné 2018, Romandie 2021 and Tour de Suisse 2022), as well as the Giro d'Italia he narrowly missed out on in 2023, only missing out on the Lussari time trial.

Mr G was not only a road runner, but, indeed, he achieved his first results on the track with two Olympic gold medals in the team pursuit (Beijing '08 and London '12), 3 world titles in the same specialty and the triumph in the scratch in 2004, the year in which he became known to the general public.
