298 km: will it be a two-way challenge between VDP and Pogacar?
On Saturday, one of the most anticipated races of the season will take place, due to its unpredictability and spectacle: the Milan-Sanremo.
The route is the usual 298 km from Pavia to Via Roma in Sanremo, with Passo del Turchino, the Capi (Mele, Cervo and Berta), the Cipressa and the Poggio .
A track like this opens up all sorts of options and outcomes. Pogacar 's attack on Cipressa is likely, but who else will be able to respond besides Van der Poel ? It's also interesting to see what role Del Toro will play.
Van Aert returns to the Classicissima with an excellent series of results (never leaving the top 8) and will try to give his best.
Among the possible contenders for the podium we mention Pippo Ganna , who last year managed to react to the outbursts of the two champions, Pidcock , who appeared in stratospheric condition at the Milan-Turin, and Philipsen , in the event of a sprint finish.
There are many potential outsiders, starting from the young sprinters Brennan, Andresen and Magnier, passing through the more experienced ones like Stuyven and Mohoric, already winners in Sanremo.
Other possible surprises could finally come from Gregoire , Godon, Pithie, Schmid and Vendrame : all riders who are resistant on climbs and have an excellent sprint.
