The Australian will undergo wrist surgery for problems he suffered in 2024

In a statement yesterday evening, Team Jayco AlUla announced that Luke Plapp will miss Sunday’s Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race .

The 2000-born rider will undergo surgery due to a wrist problem that affected him throughout last season and which has returned in 2025.

Plapp had shown, as usual, excellent form in these first outings, winning the national time trial championships, placing 2nd in the road race and 6th in the general classification at the Tour Down Under.

Team Jayco also says that this will allow Plapp to be ready and fit for the long 2025 season; it remains to be seen whether the Australian will be able to return for the UAE Tour, where he is currently listed, or whether he will postpone his return to the week of Tirreno-Adriatico and Paris-Nice.
