Curiosities for the debut of the Slovenian champion at the Ronde
“I favorite? No. I rather see myself as an outsider ”.
Tadej Pogacar, interviewed by Sporza, prefers to keep a low profile ahead of the Tour of Flanders, which will race on Sunday for the first time in his career.
After a sensational start to the season with victories at the Strade Bianche and the Tirreno-Adriatico, nothing seems to be able to prevent Tadej Pogacar from winning all the races in which he competes. But on Wednesday, the Slovenian finished 'only' tenth at the Dwars , failing to get into the good action that decided the race.
It seems that at the moment, Pogacar wants to have fun: “I do not put pressure on me for a certain result - he says - we will have to wait and see how I manage on these very technical roads. And even in the group I guess it will be quite chaotic. I raced here when I was under 23 but it was something completely different ”.
In a race where placing is extremely important, Tadej Pogacar does not feel he is among the favorites for the win: “Am I an outsider? I think so, why not? I don't consider myself a big favorite. If I am in a good position in the final, I could try but it will be difficult to get there. I will enjoy the battle. It will be epic ".
And what do you think? Will the strongest rider in the world still be among the protagonists for the final victory?
