The Olympic champion has announced his return date
Remco Evenepoel will not be at the Giro d'Italia . The confirmation comes from the rider himself who announced that, after the injury suffered in the winter, he will return to racing with the Ardennes : "I want to recover as much as possible in view of the new season - said Evenepoel - We want and hope to start again with the classics in the Ardennes. We will see how they go, then I hope to be able to do a preparation like last year towards the Tour, with many high altitude retreats and only racing the Dauphiné and National Championships first. Nothing special, nor particular. Few races, but it's what I need to heal myself and train as best as possible to try to be at my best".
“I promise I will be back,” Evenepoel continued, “I am focused on the big goals. It takes a bit of patience, but I want to make sure I am 100% at the Tour. That’s how things went and we will see what we can do, evaluating day by day.”
Meanwhile, at Soudal Quick Step, Tim Merlier and Bert Van Lenberghe have renewed their contracts until 2028.
