Slovenia is fielding its aces to defend the reigning champion's rainbow jersey

Primož Roglič will be part of the Slovenian national team at the upcoming UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda, alongside reigning world champion Tadej Pogačar. This is important news for all cycling fans and enthusiasts.

Roglič will only participate in the road race, forgoing the time trial. Slovenia, second in the UCI rankings, will be allowed to field a maximum of eight riders and is assembling the strongest possible team to support Pogačar in his title defense, especially considering the absence of Jonas Vingegaard.

For Roglič, who has already competed in the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France this year, this marks his return to competition after the Clásica San Sebastián in early August. The Bora-Hansgrohe rider will skip preparatory races like the GP Québec and Montréal, opting for a direct approach to the World Championships.

Despite the absence of big names such as Vingegaard, Van der Poel and Van Aert, the Rwandan World Cup can count on top-level names such as Roglič, Pogačar and Evenepoel. The Slovenian team is expected to be completed by top-level riders such as Matej Mohorič, Jan Tratnik, Luka Mezgec, Domen Novak and Gal Glivar.

The official announcement of the full composition of the Slovenian national team, which will also be able to field two riders in the time trial, is expected in the coming weeks.
