Primož Roglič is the new European time trial champion, taking a stunning gold medal on his home roads in Slovenia.
At almost 37 years of age, the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe champion has secured the first continental title of his extraordinary career, confirming his status as a true time trial champion after his Olympic gold medal in Tokyo.
The Slovenian champion literally dominated the 22-kilometer course around the town of Šenčur. Roglič clocked a final time of 28:16.61, flying at an impressive average speed of 46.68 km/h, perfectly managing the course's challenges, including the steep climb up Mozjanca.
Behind the winner was a solid French team, taking both silver with Bruno Armirail and bronze with the young Maxime Decomble . For Italy, the best of the day was Marco Frigo, who performed excellently and finished seventh, 55 seconds behind the newly crowned European champion.
