Rain in the second half slows down the top-ranked men

Daan Hoole (Lidl-Trek) wins stage 10 of the Giro d'Italia in the 28.6km time trial from Lucca to Pisa.

The Dutchman displaces Hayter from the lead of the race in the first phase, then the big favorite Tarling starts and crushes his opponents at the first intermediate, but then drops significantly in the second part and closes in 2nd place. On the podium of the day Hayter , while two Italians, Cattaneo and Affini, complete the top 5.

The top-ranked men are caught, as predicted, by the rain. Only Gee , who started early, manages to avoid it to a large extent and is the only one to finish in the top 15.

Roglic is also quite lucky in this circumstance and gains significantly on all other rivals, as does Arensman .

Storer, A.Yates, Bernal, Ciccone, Carapaz and Del Toro lost a lot of ground, but he still managed to keep the pink jersey.

S.Yates, Ayuso and Tiberi defended well.
