The Frenchman beats Ayuso in the 2nd stage and takes the jersey
Paul Seixas wins the second stage of the Volta ao Algarve, from Portimão to Fóia (147.2 km).
Sorarrain of Caja Rural was the last rider from the initial breakaway to hold on to the race lead, with the group catching him at the foot of the Alto da Foia, a climb that leads to the finish line.
Lidl-Trek took charge of setting the pace, with Ayuso attacking 5 km behind. Almeida and Seixas managed to stay with the Spaniard, while Riccitello and Onley joined shortly after.
Almeida tries to avoid the sprint with three attacks, but fails to make a difference; Seixas takes the lead in the final corners and beats Ayuso by centimeters. Almeida completes the podium, while an excellent Pinarello finishes seventh.
Seixas is the new leader of the general classification, with Magnier having obviously dropped back on the final climb.
