One of the profiles to keep an eye on at Fantacycling in view of the new season is Tim Wellens ; the Belgian moved from Lotto to UAE Team Emirates making a significant leap in quality and, despite his recent seasons not being very brilliant, he could have the opportunity to show off his (sometimes unexpressed) talent.

Wellens will have the task of staying close to the new captain Tadej Pogacar , but in one-day races and in the stages of the grand tours, he could also have his own space: "If I'm in the finals with Pogacar, anything can happen - the Belgian told Indeleiderstrui – I could attack and stay on the run, but first I have to prove I'm capable of winning for the team. What can be my chances depends on him. He is the best rider in the world, so when he starts I will sacrifice myself completely for him. If it's not there I'll have my chances. I was happy at Lotto and if I had achieved excellent results I would have stayed; I wanted to get out of my comfort zone because I wanted to discover new things and win races I've never won. I'd like to win a big race, even if I don't know which one. I'm thinking of the WorldTour, maybe in Belgium… I didn't come to the UAE to win at the Challenge Mallorca yet .”

Statements from a highly motivated rider, who at the age of 32 wants to achieve a career-defining result: "2021 and 2022 weren't what I expected - added Wellens - In terms of level, I was at the bottom and maybe even more down. Wellens will start the Fantacycling season with a quotation of 6 fantamillions , a low cost compared to previous seasons; in fact, in 2022 he only earned 186 fantasy points , but the shirt change could give him new motivation and make him a real opportunity in our game.
