Carapaz himself remains in front with Enric Mas but the battle breaks out behind him with Remco Evenepoel who tries to attack but Jonas Vingegaard, followed closely by Tadej Pogacar, responds and breaks away from him.

Yet another duel between the last two winners of the Tour is decided a few meters from the finish line: Pogacar leaves nothing to his opponent and easily overtakes him to win his fifth stage at the Tour.
