Aleksandr Vlasov won the fifth stage of the Tour of Switzerland, the 190 km Ambri-Novazzano with a very demanding circuit due to the heat and the Pedrinate climb to be repeated three times.

In Canton Ticino the Bora rider hansgrohe preceded Neilson Powless (Ef Education EasyPost) and Jakob Fuglsang (Israel Premier Tech) in a short sprint.
