A Gran Fondo for 6,000 amateurs is about to be experienced on Sunday on the Sienese earthworks that have become famous thanks to the race of the professionals of the Strade Bianche. The Gran Fondo Strade Bianche by Enel offers a route with breathtaking views, unparalleled in the world, and that amateurs now feel they are theirs and particularly love.  

The whitest Gran Fondo Strade Bianche ever will start on Sunday 6 March.

Compared to the last edition, in fact, the long route has been updated: the kilometers rise from 139 to 142 and the dirt sections from 8 become 10, with the debut of sector n ° 5 of Serravalle and n ° 7 of Monte Sante Marie - the dedicated one to Fabian Cancellara , the same one who every year makes the difference in the professional race.

Two long and demanding sectors, respectively 10.7 and 11.5km, which will give the over 6000 subscribers new scenarios, unprecedented views and unique emotions.

Compared to the past edition there will therefore be over 22 km more of dirt roads, for a total of almost 55 km of dirt road, 38.5% of the route. So less asphalt and more gravel, for a more technical and demanding track that reflects even more the vocation of this race and these lands. Where what really matters is pedaling together immersed in the beauty of the Sienese landscapes to the incomparable finish line of Piazza del Campo.

The Expo Village located in the historic setting of the Medici Fortress (also known as Forte di Santa Barbara) of Siena, a fort erected in the Tuscan city between 1561 and 1563, by order of the Duke of Florence Cosimo I de 'Medici, will be the centerpiece of the activities of the weekend of Strade Bianche, a real village of the cycle. Located near the Sienese district of San Prospero, next to the Artemio Franchi Stadium, it is easily accessible, and is about 1 km from Piazza del Campo, home of the weekend races.
