The Emirati team is aiming for its first stage victory with a stellar team led by Almeida and Ayuso
Despite the team's strength on paper, UAE Team Emirates-XRG has not yet expressed its full potential in this 2025 Vuelta a España. But the long-awaited first victory could come as early as stage five, the completely flat 24.1-kilometer team time trial that will take place today on Spanish soil.
With specialists of the calibre of João Almeida and Juan Ayuso as leaders, supported by pure time trialists such as Jay Vine and Mikkel Bjerg , the Emirati team presents itself at the starting line in Figueres with what on paper appears to be the most competitive formation for this event .
Jay Vine, interviewed on the subject, maintains a relaxed attitude: " I expect about 30 seconds between the top five teams, but I don't think this stage will be decisive for the general classification of the Vuelta."
The Australian emphasizes that the course, not overly technical, will require approximately 25-26 minutes of effort and that teamwork is essential, as he must reach the finish line with at least four riders: " With the team we have, victory is absolutely within our reach," says Vine confidently, having finished in the top six in all time trials he competed in 2025. Specific preparation for this event has been limited, given the diverse backgrounds of the riders, but the experience and quality of the team bode well for a prestigious result.
