Maxim Van Gils (Bora Red Bull) wins the first stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia (2.Pro) from Torrox to Cueva de Nerja (162.6 km).

The stage is quite entertaining with several attacks by the favourites on the Alto de Canillas and Alto de Frigiliana . After the two climbs, Van Gils , Wellens and Sivakov remain in the lead.

In the final, slightly on the rise, the two UAE riders try to play as a team, attacking one at a time, but Van Gils is not surprised and beats both of them in the sprint.
