Vingegaard in the red jersey
Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates) wins the tenth stage of the Vuelta a España, from Parque de la Naturaleza Sendaviva › El Ferial Larra Belagua (175.3km).
After nearly 100 km of continuous sprints at an average speed of 50 km/h, a 30-man breakaway managed to break away; there was little consensus among these attackers, and 10 riders subsequently broke away thanks to the action of Romo, followed by Vine.
With 16km to go, Segaert attempted a solo start, approaching the final climb with a 45-second lead over the first pursuers and 3'30" over the red jersey group.
On the toughest section, Castrillo caught up and dropped Segaert, while in the group, Ayuso immediately made himself available to Almeida and pulled the peloton hard. The pace set by the UAE allowed Traeen , Ciccone, Bernal, and Gall to drop back within the first 3 km of the climb.
Leading the race, Vine caught up with Castrillo and sprinted alone to the finish line. The Australian took his second win of this Vuelta, just ahead of the Movistar rider. Romo finished third.
In the group, Jorgenson slows the pace and allows some of the trailing riders to come back; Bernal and Gall lose some ground, while Vingegaard takes back the red jersey.
