Third stage of the 157.8 km women's vuelta starting in Elche de la Sierra and finishing in La Roda, a fraction without GPM which on paper would seem perfect for a compact sprint, but the wind shuffles the cards and already 90 km from the conclusion the fans divide the group; Unfortunately, many Italians are paying the price, including Persico, Cavalli and Gaia Realini's entire Trek-Segafredo. Up front only 29 remain to fight for the stage victory, the restricted sprint rewards the red jersey Marianne Vos who precedes Kool and Dygert. The group with Muzic, Persico and Barbieri reaches 1'32", while Spratt, Realini, Cavalli and Faulkner pay even 2'41".
