A day of grace for the Australian who, in the breakaway, puts more than 6' ahead of the group
Ben O'Connor ( Decathlon AG2R La Difesa Team) wins the sixth stage of the Vuelta from Jerez de la Frontera to Yunquera, 185.5 km.
In the early stages of the race many riders try to join the day's breakaway; on the Puerto del Boyar an attacking group is formed consisting of O'Connor, Leemreize, Frigo, Sanchez, Berrade, Vergallito, Vine, Berthet, Lipowitz, Castrillo, Vansevenant and Harper.
On the next climb, the Puerto del Viento, O'Connor and Leemreize also extend their lead on the breakaway and, with 40km to go, have a 5'30" lead over the red jersey group.
On Puerto Martinez, the Australian from Decathlon AG2R remains alone in the lead and launches himself towards the conquest of the stage and the red jersey. O'Connor continues to increase his margin also in the finale and wins ahead of Frigo and Lipowitz.
The group closes at a good 6'31", O'Connor takes the red jersey with 4'51" on Roglic and 4'49" on Almeida.
