Roglic leaves rivals behind in overall standings
Michael Woods (Israel Premier-Tech) wins the thirteenth stage of the 176km Vuelta from Lugo to Puerto de Ancares.
The group, again today, leaves plenty of room for the day's breakaway, initially composed of 23 riders, who acquire a maximum advantage of around 18'.
On the ups and downs before Puerto de Lumeras, the breakaway splits with Van Aert, Vine, Mcnulty, Oomen, Asgreen, Leemreize, Woods, Soler and Schmid taking the lead. Mcnulty and Vine fall on the following descent and say goodbye to their hopes of victory.
On the first ramps of the tough final climb, Woods attacks and remains alone in the lead. The Canadian champion continues to gain on his pursuers and triumphs alone in Puerto de Ancares. Schmid and Soler place themselves behind him.
In the red jersey group, the push from Red Bull Bora immediately puts O'Connor in trouble . Roglic takes off and gradually manages to detach Kuss, Landa and Mas, the last to give up.
The Slovenian puts almost 2' ahead of O'Connor who still manages to maintain the lead in the general classification.
