Richie Porte - At 37 , after 13 seasons as a prof, the Tasmanian from Ineos is still a great team man. First he works for the captains and then, when the condition helps him, he takes away some satisfaction in the week-long stage races. He probably didn't win what was expected but he is still a top level rider.

Alejandro Valverde - At 41, he won last week in Spain. The moment of farewell has arrived for him too, next October, after 18 seasons at the top , 131 victories including a World Championship , 4 Liège-Bastogne-Liège and many other races around Europe. But rest assured: this year it will still be the protagonist.

To close his career will also be Iljo Keisse , honest gregarious in Quick Step jersey, Alexandre Geniez , 33 year old of Total Energies who leaves after 15 successes obtained in as many escapes, Maximiliano Richeze , 38 year old Argentine pioneer of Fernando Gaviria at UAE Emirates who will hang the bike on the nail after the next Giro d'Italia , and Ilnur Zakarin , the Russian of Gazprom , winner of stages in all the great tours. A great climber, until a few years ago, he got a bit lost. But beware of the desire for redemption.
