The fourteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia won by Asgreen was terrible for the Italian team .

A crash on the Nova Gorica city circuit, on the cobbled section, split the pink jersey group and caused several big names, such as Roglic, Bernal, Storer and Ayuso, to lose a lot of ground ; however, the ones who paid the worst price were our two best riders in this Giro d'Italia, namely Ciccone and Tiberi , this morning in 7th and 3rd place in the general classification.

The accident was triggered by two men from Bahrain Victorius, with Tiberi personally involved. The 2001-born rider suffered some nasty blows to his ankles, trapped under another bike and on the pavement, but he managed to limit the damage, losing just under 2' from the pink jersey Del Toro.

Things went much worse for Ciccone who, after the fall, remained in pain on the ground at the side of the road; for a few moments there was even the thought of a withdrawal, but then the Lidl-Trek leading man got back on his bike and with tenacity reached the finish line with a delay of over 15 minutes.

As for the physical conditions of the two Italians, those of Tiberi are more reassuring, who still managed to reach the finish line with a small gap, with a teammate's bike; the Lazio rider did not want to go out on a limb to the microphones and said that he still suffered a bad blow.

The risk of withdrawal for Ciccone, however, is very high: we hope he can recover between tomorrow and the following day of rest, even if his conditions immediately appeared quite worrying due to a blow to the muscle of his right thigh.
