The Lyon-Turin race emerges, the Giro di Sardegna returns


The 2026 Italian cycling calendar features many new features and some welcome returns. The UCI has released the schedule for next season, and compared to 2025, the number of races in our country has increased from 27 to 32 .

Among the main new features is the return of the Giro di Sardegna, which will be held again after years of absence and will open the season from February 25th to March 1st, thus anticipating the Trofeo Laigueglia.

In March, the Settimana Coppi e Bartali and the new GP Emilia, scheduled for March 29th. This latter race had already appeared on the 2025 calendar, but was then canceled before it could take place.

In April, after the Giro della Città Metropolitana di Reggio Calabria, the Giro della Magna Grecia will take place, scheduled from 12 to 16 April, a few days before the Tour of the Alps.

Following this, the Giro dell'Appennino will change dates again: in 2026 it will be held on May 3rd.

This summer, the Italian Championships will take place at the end of June, along with the debut of the Lyon–Turin, a new UCI 2.1 category stage race, which will take place from 1 to 3 July.

September will begin with the Larciano GP, followed by the Giro d'Abruzzo, moved to autumn and scheduled for September 15th to 18th, and the Gran Premio del Lazio, scheduled for September 19th.
