The fraction is neutralized at -25 km as regards the gaps in the general classification, however the stage victory remains at stake without the usual bonuses.

On the Ottenberg climb, 13 remain in command. Evenepoel tries the attack 17 km from the conclusion and remains alone in the lead of the race with a twenty second advantage over his closest pursuers. The world champion manages to increase the gap and triumphs at the finish line in Weinfelden with a beautiful dedication in honor of Gino Mader.
