Here's who to focus on in Fantacycling
After the Amstel Gold Race , here is the second appointment with the Ardennes triptych, the Freccia Wallone . The race, 198.6 km starting in Charleroi and finishing on the legendary Mur de Huy , is suitable for explosive runners, but who know how to hold on well on short climbs.
The decisive point, in fact, is the Huy wall itself, 1.3 km with an average gradient of 9.4%, a long final uphill sprint in which only runners who have the explosiveness and the necessary grip will be able to win the race.
Among the favorites is Amstel Gold Race winner, Tom Pidcock , captain of Team Ineos Grenadiers .
There is no Tadej Pogacar , at the start of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège next Sunday, but Team UAE will be able to count on Marc Hirschi , a very suitable rider for such an arrival, as well as Juan Ayuso and Joao Almeida .
Bora Hansgrohe will not field Primoz Roglic and the captain should be Alexander Vlasov , while Team Visma relies on the experience of Tiesj Benoot, an excellent rider for Fantacycling : he rarely wins, but often places.
Lidl Trek will present itself with Mattias Skjelmose as captain and Andrea Bagioli , who is also very suitable for an arrival like this.
Also worth following is Team Bahrain Victorious with Pello Bilbao and Santiago Buitrago as second striker, while it will also be interesting to see in what conditions Richard Carapaz will present himself, perfect for the arrival on the Huy wall. If the Ecuadorian is not in top condition, Team EF will still be able to focus on the lively Ben Healy .
Another rider to watch will be David Gaudu (Groupama FDJ), who has been disappointing so far, as well as Soudal Quick Step , who relies on the young Ilan Van Wilder and the unpredictability of Mauri Vansevenant .
Remember to monitor the timer on the app to enter your lineup and make the latest market trades. Making the right moves for the Freccia-Vallone , from a Fantacycling perspective, could also be decisive for setting up a competitive lineup for the Liège-Bastogne-Liège on Sunday.
